• This article examines the impact of a single educational intervention on occupational therapy students' attitudes toward complementary health approaches and integrative health (CHAIH). The study utilized a pretest-posttest randomized controlled trial design to assess changes in student attitudes before and after exposure to educational content provided by selected CHAIH practitioners.

  • The findings revealed statistically significant improvements in the students' perceptions of services similar to occupational therapy, such as massage and chiropractic therapy. This suggests that exposure to complementary health approaches can positively influence students' attitudes, highlighting the potential for integrating these modalities into their professional practice. However, the study noted that this intervention did not significantly alter participants' willingness to refer patients to or collaborate with CHAIH providers, indicating a gap that may require further investigation (Bradshaw et al., 2017).

  • Overall, this research adds valuable insights into the discourse surrounding integrative health within the field of occupational therapy. It provides a foundation for future exploration and encourages ongoing discussions about the integration of complementary approaches in therapeutic settings, ultimately aiming to enhance holistic care for patients.
